Anti viruses are becoming bloatwares these days, slowing down PCs due to its large (and ever growing) signature base. Did you know?: Antirvirus vendors remove signatures of older viruses that are no longer deemed a threat?
How about taking the scanning process away (*cough* to a certain degree) from your PC and having that task done by a cloud which is essentially having the tedious process of scanning and analysing malware over the network. Cloud setup is essentially limitless and will not have limitations on processing power, hdd capacity and as such, will be able to scan malware faster and more thoroughly with a larger AND real time updated signature base.
