Ed Skoudis (ignore this entry if you don’t know who this chap is)’s name appeared again in a recent (yesterday?) theregister.co.uk article talking about the most dangerous exploits in the world. He rated pivoting/ reverse porting/ whatever you want to call it the most dangerous one, often used to steal vast amounts of data and i quote “millions of credit cards”. OK. *breaks a sweat*

The article continues on to talk about pass the hash techniques (we’ve seen this eons ago haven’t we?) and then I found a tutorial video from the guys at EH-NET on how to use PTH toolkit and presenting a realistic “use” for it. Whatever happened to patching up samba, memdumps and all?!?! Times have obviously change and it doesn’t take a whole lot of know how to do alot of damage these days.

*sigh*

a fresh start
